KARAOKE!

I think I can count with my 10 fingers, the number of times I've gone singing at a karaoke. I'm very particular about WHO I go with, and if there are people in the group whom I don't know, I will not sing. If the servers come in with our drinks, I will stop singing. LOL. SHY! But then I don't know what came over me this time around, when I spontaneously agreed to go to K Box with Amelia and Ee Xuan. Part of me had been dying to go for ages, but either I had no time, no money, was too tired, or couldn't find anyone to go with. =/ I'm glad these 2 friends of mine were instantly up for it! Maybe because they were as crazy as me, so we could let loose and laugh it off. Hehe. Or maybe because I just simply got over the shyness, the insecurity and the embarrassment!!! WHY? Read on~

Amelia booked a room for us at K Box at *SCAPE. It was a last-minute booking so we could only sing for 2 hours. Imagine the whole list of songs we selected, that got cleared off when 2 hours was up! =.= Super anti-climax. I was kinda noob with everything (I don't sing KTV that much!), so Amelia sang first while Ee Xuan selected the usual karaoke hits!:

Ee Xuan and Amelia, who had on the same blazer, as you would maybe have noticed by now!:

The first thing I thought when I saw it was, "OMG, boarding school!"

Guess who dedicated this song to sing? ;):

And just for laughs, here's not one, but TWO videos:

EE XUAN IS SOOO ADORABLE!!! "I'm very self-conscious!! Oh my God, noooo~! Oh my God! Eh, don't video hor!" HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHA DAMN CUTE AND LOVABLE, SERIOUSLY!!! ♥♥♥

I remember someone asked me before on my Formspring, if I would do a video of myself singing. I am not a professional singer, and neither do I claim to be. I will NEVER upload videos of myself on YouTube like Marie Digby, because I'm not that awesome. Obviously. -.- BUT! Just to grant the request of that anonymous asker and my curious readers, I videoed one song properly (at least more proper than the candid one above). Before I go on, let me state some claims first (HAHA)!:

1. I am NOT a professional singer and I never claimed to be one! Yes, I must repeat that!!! Me and my friends were just having fun, 'cos like I said in the video description, that's the whole point of karaoke! Don't worry, I'm not about to run off and join Singapore Idol to disgrace myself.
2. I am a professional bathroom singer. HAHAHAHAHAHA.
3. Be prepared for laughing, giggling and talking in-between the music. I don't know why we did that too. I guess we were just being us. ^_^V
4. I kinda have a low voice for a girl, and I couldn't reach some high notes. :'( Yet this is one of my favourite songs from Sammi Cheng, totally. =) And I would rather have a low voice than a high, squeaky, annoying one!

Soooooooo here goes nothing!:

I welcome insults and criticism, because I know I get that on a daily basis, WHETHER I SING OR NOT. Part and parcel of being a blogger, eh? It will just roll off my back and hit the floor, and then maybe bounce back in your face. Haha. Also part and parcel of being a blogger. LOL. My friends are gonna kill me for those videos on YouTube. =X

Dinner was at Ajisen Ramen! My spicy tomyam ramen!:

People pray before food, but Amelia? She has this weird ritual:

Photobucket

I'm kiddin'. I have no idea what she was doing also! Me and Eeeee Xuannnn:

Photobucket

And lastly, the 3 of us!:

Photobucket

This dude riding past us on the escalator was staring at me and my friends, with his girlfriend chatting animatedly next to him, oblivious to his diverted attention. And then what happened? He had no idea he was at the end already, and he tripped. Oh I'm sorry, that's for having a roving eye, mister. x

I had a lot of fun with these 2 girls! =) We even managed to squeeze in some time for shopping before dinner. And they recently taught me to play... BLACKSHOT. HAHA I know!! So not me! But I was game for it, and they were all laughing at me over the microphone on Skype because I had absolutely no idea what I was doing. Just shooting aimlessly. LOL. I'd get it! Soon. ;) So cute, the both of them.

More to come. xoxoxooxooxxxx

Johnnie Walker OWNS IT

Johnnie Walker has been a regular name in my events life for as long as I can remember. Like I mentioned before, I sold Johnnie Walker at St James back when I was saving up for LA. And then there were these random events. But it wasn't until F1 came to Singapore that Johnnie Walker parties got bigger and better. I'm not game for clubbing every weekend, and each time I am at F1 Johnnie Walker Jet Black parties, I am working. Which is very lucky for me because I don't have to go around asking for invites, because I otherwise would, since it's a must-go event every year! Beautiful people everywhere (SERIOUSLY), awesome music and friends all around. And I just LOVE the outfit they give us to put on. ♥

The first Jet Black party I worked for was coincidentally at St James. The first, and the most memorable. =) I couldn't believe my luck when I realised we could party towards the end. Work and play at the same time?! Can't get any better than that. And then there was the one at Butter Factory, The White Rabbit, Red Dot Museum... etc. And now? Fullerton Bay Hotel. =) I was working with Elena and Vanessa, and Amelia was under another agency in the VIP room. I heard Big Bang and Ludacris were around, but I didn't bother trying to spot them when I popped in and out of the VIP room to look for Amelia. I don't even know if they even showed up?! I think I was more interested in the photo booth!:

There were many more friends around but I didn't take pictures with ALL of them. It was good to see familiar faces though, but I don't mean to say it's good to see SOME faces... Especially not when they stick out like a sore thumb. It was a total eye-sore.... Imagine seeing all these beautiful people milling about and suddenly out of the blue you spot a cheena fuck. I finally grasped the meaning of "party pooper" through and through. Good night, turned bad. JUST MY LUCK, YO. *flips the finger*

Absolutely cannot wait for the next Jet Black party! It's still some time away (considering this year's party just ended).... But then again time flies.

See you next year! ♥

Zorro and Champagne

Met up with Cindy at East Coast Park awhile back because I promised her I'd meet her dog, Zorro. Never got around to it until I found out she adopted yet another dog, Champagne!! One male, one female, both Siberian Huskies. =) So I woke up earlier than usual one weekend and we sat at The Beach Hut with the dogs, catching up after such a looong time.

Can you guess which one is Zorro and which one is Champagne??:

TADAAAA. Zorro on the left and Champagne on the right in this picture:

Uh-huh, yeah I know right?! Wine at noon?! Sorry, couldn't help it!

Did A LOT of walking that day also. Covered almost the whole stretch of the beach. The last time I walked that much along that same stretch, was with Gucci. :/ Yes, the memories stay forever.

Thanks to the humid weather after the drizzle, I bought an ice-cream on the way home. Wall's new Fruttare!:

Photobucket

The packaging is awesome but sadly, it looks better than it tastes. Like too-sweet frozen syrup water. No biggie!

Just a quick one this time round; will be back. xoxo

Food-tasting at Tien Court Restaurant

"Making a debut this July, Tien Court presents Taiwan Alishan Special, a feast filled with delectable dishes to satisfy the most discerning palate. From 18 July - 18 September, this special will feature authentic Alishan cuisine by Tien Court's Celebrity Master Chef Ho Tien Tsai who hails from Alishan, Taiwan. The menu promises to be one that will tantalise your taste buds."

Herbert invited me for food-tasting awhile back at Tien Court 天厨 Restaurant in King Copthorne's Hotel, where he was working at. Naturally, I brought the boyfriend. =) The lift door opened on to the 2nd floor to a spacious Chinese restaurant with dark wood fixtures and warm lighting. Outside Tien Court Restaurant:

Our reservation was for 6pm, and to my pleasant surprise, we were led to a private room with really attentive personal service by the outlet manager, David. We were first served Chinese tea, with a separate order of drink of choice. A ordered orange juice, and I had watermelon juice and shiraz (cannot decide!).

Waiting for our food:

PhotobucketPhotobucket

You can tell from the photos that the lighting was warm and cosy. =) A was sitting rather far away from me though, because the table was really huge (able to easily accommodate more than 10 people) and the ceiling high. All that together made for a really peaceful ambience to dine in.

First dish served was their Deep-Fried Minced Chicken wrapped in Beancurd Roll:

Dipped in miso sauce:

For a deep-fried dish, the beancurd roll was not oily. It was full-flavoured and managed to retain its crispiness at the same time. Definitely a great combination with the miso sauce served together.

Photobucket

*P.S: House of Harlow-inspired starburst ring from DIY Galore.

Braised Cuttlefish Soup

Cuttlefish was just the right state of chewy, and soup was not too starchy nor salty. I'm not a big fan of cuttlefish, but this was actually acceptable.

Wok-Fried Glass Noodles with Prawns

This was the BEST dish among all the others we tried!!! =D Me and boyfriend's favourite. ^_^ The moment the lid was removed, the aroma that wafted towards us was heavenly. Nothing beats a steaming hot pot of glass noodles with succulent prawns to boot. It tasted even better than it looked. The flavours just burst in my mouth and my taste buds were in overdrive. To say that this dish is "orgasmic" would be an understatement! Absolute love. ♥

Quick-fried Lala with Chinese Basil

I welcome seafood any time, any day. You know how sometimes when you fork out flesh from a shellfish and to your disappointment, the flesh you get is just way too small? Well, you won't get that with this dish. The chewy flesh from the lala was fresh, and they also came in generous proportions. The only little downside, the taste from the chinese basil was a tad too strong for me. But if you like chinese basil, you shouldn't have a problem.

This is irrelevant, but I ended up camwhoring with A while waiting for our next dish. HAHAHA. 8 pictures only, okay?!:

Moving along, here's our next dish!:

Braised Pork Tendon with Black Pepper Corn

My first time having pork tendon. It wasn't my cup of tea. If you are the adventurous sort, you might like to give this a try. I thought it tasted quite bland though (despite the black pepper corn), and the texture of the pork tendon in my mouth didn't sit too well with me.

Braised Minced Meat and Mushrooms in Rich Brown Sauce on Pearl Rice

Now this is what they call the classic Chinese rice bowl. The dish tasted just like a rice dumpling. Except that for this, the rice was even sweeter and more fragrant, and the pork was equally sweet and delicious.

Tucking in!:

Photobucket

After those 6 dishes we tried, it was time for DESSERT. =) I ordered the Chilled Black Glutinous Rice with Vanilla Ice-cream while my boyfriend went for the Chilled Cream of Mango with Pomelo and Sago.

Chilled Black Glutinous Rice with Vanilla Ice-cream

Thumbs-up for this one! It was a fusion between East (black glutinous rice) and West (vanilla ice-cream), and surprisingly the combination was fantastic. The ice-cream was frozen enough that I could feel slight crunchy frozen bits in it when chewing, and the black glutinous rice wasn't too sweet, nor did it overwhelm the ice-cream. In fact, the flavours were complimenting each other. Best dessert I've ever had in a restaurant of any kind.

Chilled Cream of Mango with Pomelo and Sago

The only thing that stood out for me for this dessert was the sweetness. The mango flavour was of course there, but it was way too sweet for me to take. If you have an extreeemely sweet tooth, then I suppose you ought to give this dessert a try. =)

At the end of the whole course, we met the chef behind all the awesome dishes above. Celebrity Master Chef Ho Tien Tsai was not available that day, so we had a picture with his assistant, along with David, the outlet manager:

Photobucket

The chef also gave us each a jar of their house-special XO sauce!:

=) They're really very nice. I cannot wait for my mum to use it for her cooking. I'm sure it will taste super good.

Verdict?: Tien Court 天厨 Restaurant is a place worth going back to. The service was immaculate (8), the food was good (7) and the ambience was perfect (7). Overall: 7.5/10

Tien Court 天厨 Restaurant is located at 403 Havelock Road, 2F Copthorne King's Hotel.

♥♥♥♥♥

Boyfriend and I dropped by Clarke Quay for a drink after our sumptuous dinner. We saw this brightly-lit neon car exhibit in the middle of the arena - it was gorgeoussss!:
