Birthday picnic

So like I mentioned, it was my birthday on Friday, and I took leave from work so I could spend it with the most special person in my life. Woke up in the afternoon and got ready, and then made my way to the boyfriend's house. He got me a birthday cake, HEHEHE:

Wore my oversized circle sweater from ClubCouture. Major LOVE IT. Get it HERE!!! Gold ribbon ring from DIY Galore. =)

Red packets from boyfriend's parents. Thank you Auntie, Uncle!:

I'd been bugging boyfriend for a picnic for AGES, so I was finally satisfied on my birthday. Prior to that, I'd always thought I would wanna club and get pissed drunk, or throw a huge-ass party. But I always end up going back to the nice and simple stuff, like this picnic. Maybe I'm really simple at heart. HAHA.

First up, grocery-shopping! It was actually quite a last-minute thing, and we didn't have any idea what we wanted, so we just grabbed whatever we felt like having or whatever was ideal. Came back with these - streaky bacon, hotdogs, chicken popcorn, eggs, bread and ham (the rest we had in the kitchen):

Chef A at work, yo!:

Photobucket

I did the chopping, boyfriend did the cooking! So, chicken popcorn and ham, anyone?:

This is boyfriend's scrambled eggs for our sandwiches...:

He claimed, "Looks EXACTLY like McDonald's." -_-"' He was obviously very proud of what he whipped up! LOL. It was yummy though, so much so that we couldn't keep our hands off the food for awhile. But we had to stop or we wouldn't have had anything for the picnic!

Packing up our delicious noms!:

To be honest, by the time we arrived at Marina Barrage for our picnic, it was way past 7pm. So it turned into a night picnic, but then again, the timing was perfect because there was no sun. I hate the sun. For anyone who might be thinking of having a picnic at Marina Barrage, here's a piece of advice: DO NOT WALK FROM THE MRT STATION. Boyfriend and I didn't realise just how far it was, and we waited for Bus 400 for ages. Yet walking was also the wrong decision. Halfway through, we stopped at the next bus-stop to wait for the bus again, and when it arrived and we boarded it, I was in shock. The bus was packed to the brim with China workers. It smelt like a ZOO. O_O Me and A were so out of place amongst them, and we were on a bus service that is LOCAL. SBS, you know!!!! (T_T) So next time, the best thing is to just TAKE A CAB. Problem solved. Or opt for the shuttle bus. I felt bad that I made the boy walk so far, especially since he was still recuperating from his surgery wound. =( But I really didn't know. ='( Once bitten, twice shy! I will remember next time. And why Marina Barrage, some may ask? 'Cos I've had picnics by the beach before, so one by the city is new. Plus, boyfriend was exclaiming throughout as he laid down on the mat, "Wah the ground very straight leh. Really very straight leh!" Haha. Next time if I go back to the beach, I'd pitch a tent!! Idea.

Sat down by the side of the Green Roof and immediately unpacked our dinner upon arrival because we were famished after all that walking! The great view sort of made up for it - Marina Bay Sands is so gorgeous at night:

Laid out our picnic mat on the grass after we filled our stomachs. I totally CANNOT remember when was the last time I laid out in the open, staring up at the sky, seemingly without a care in the world. If you stare straight ahead, it's just all night sky. Nothing else. Feels like infinity. ♥ Now tell me if you can do that in the day with the glaring sun in your face?! LOL.

PhotobucketPhotobucket

Photobucket

Our picnic mat was actually boyfriend's mum's table cloth.................. LOL. I told you it was a last-minute thing! Haha. Fret not, we already got a prettier picnic mat for future use! ;)

We got up to play our favourite card game after awhile... Monopoly Deal!:

PhotobucketPhotobucket

Could have laid down on the mat longer, but these kids came out of nowhere and started flying their kites on the field. There were way too many of them, and we didn't want them to look up at their kites and blindly run over us. =.= Good thing we got up though, because one of the kites landed on another couple nearby. Told ya!

Enjoying the view by the barrage:

Tell me I am a pro photographer!!! I love this shot of the boyfriend, with Marina Bay Sands in the background - sooo pretty!:

Photobucket

We had to pack up and leave by 10plus, because it started to rain. -__- 2 hours shy to 12am and it had to rain! *wails* Damn Singapore weather.

Birthday picnic aside, my bosses and colleagues also surprised me with a birthday cake at work on Thursday!! =D:

Photobucket

With my very-nice bosses!:

Photobucket

My lunch mates (although not for long now because one is going back to school and the other is going to serve the nation!):

Photobucket

I feel damn lucky to have such nice colleagues at work! My first office job and it's so far, so good. =) I always remind myself that I could have had it worse. Thank God I am blessed.

Thank you ALL for the birthday wishes (through SMS, Facebook, in person, whichever!)! And thank you to my darling boyfriend, for spending it with me. I love you. ♥

Smirnoff "Be There" party

Hello! I'm back! Been busy working, and I admit, I could have rested earlier but I'm currently so addicted to The Sims Social on Facebook. =X Did an event too, straight after work on Friday. Rushed down to St James to report for the Smirnoff "Be There" party with Iris, Sharon, Evangeline, Vanessa and Adeline. Am I hardworking or what?! HAHAHA. But seriously, it was the most tiring day ever. I woke up at dawn and slogged away for close to 22 hours straight. =( All these just to pay the bills. Sometimes I wonder if it's even worth it huh. And that makeup gunk on my face for that long... *shudders*

With Iris the hot mama - Take #1, candid! Haha, WTH!:

Photobucket

Take #2, proper!:

Photobucket

With Angel, who was working at the bar!:

Me, on break:

Photobucket

St James brought back a lot of memories for me. I used to sell Johnnie Walker and vodka shots there while I was saving up for LA. It's the only club I know like the back of my hand, the only one I've been to countless of times compared to others. I knew the familiar faces, all the nooks and crannies to hide and slack off.... LOL. =P

Can't tell from the pictures that I was tired, but I was. So very much. By the end of the job at 2am, I was already sitting on the stool by the bar, just stoning and staring into space. Must have been quite an odd sight, seeing as everyone else was partying away and I was just one stagnant island in the middle of it all. I sat there, knowing how tired I was and knowing why I was that tired. This is how people feel when they want to make ends meet, I think... One thing led to another and it got me thinking about my late grandpa, about darling Gucci, about everything that has come and passed and how I could have done it differently. How, what if, I never spent a single cent on all the fun I had (including LA) and saved ALL of it for rainy days. Wonder if I would be somewhere else right now, better off financially. It was also when I let the guilt eat away at me (again) for having left Gucci in Singapore for 10 days while I went on my adventure. I was young and I just wanted to run wild and meet new people, experience new things. And I did. But I would exchange every single bit for my dog to come back alive again. But nope, he's gone... And I realised I'm not gonna be here forever either. It's so hard to constantly remind myself that I might as well make full use of it while I can. So, slog away forever it is.

I don't know how blogging about a job so fun could become so melancholy, but okay, that's it. Shall end off here before I stay in this black hole for the rest of the night. Brought boyfriend to Tien Court Restaurant for food-tasting last week, so stay tuned for that once I get it together. And my birthday is coming soon as well (4 more days!). =) Updates your way, very soon I promise! xoxoxoxxxx

Nex!

Dropped by Nex Mall for the first time last week for lunch break. Didn't have much time to walk around because I had to get back to the office, but in the limited amount of time I did have, I came across this furniture store called King & King Wong. The place is chock-full of English furniture, from lawn chairs to bed frames to bird cages. White, white, white everywhere. I fell in love with each and every one of them, and came home to tell the boyfriend. He said we could go take a look again on the weekend, so we did! I would love for my room to be filled with white English-style furniture, complete with lace curtains and bed linen printed with tiny roses too. But the only downside would be, I CANNOT find a wardrobe there that would be big enough for all of my clothes. =(

The furniture store was on the same level as the sky garden, and a little further down was the doggy cafe. Celine got her friend to bring WooWoo down, so I popped by for a visit. =) Stepped in to find WooWoo running all over the place, barking her head off and making friends with both dogs and humans alike. Haha. I snatched her up from her fun for pictures!:

PhotobucketPhotobucket

Haven't seen WooWoo in some time... The last time was when we all went to the beach together with Gucci. But well, we won't ever get to do it again because Gucci is not around anymore. :'( No sad talk for now. Glad to know WooWoo is doing well, because I could physically feel her significant weight when I carried her. Heh. Fat and white and furry!

My entire outfit that day is gifted from DIY Galore! ;D I've got LOTS more from there (bags, clothes, accessories!), but obviously I can't wear them all at once in a day, so wait for it! =) So happy with my loot; the blogshop owner is really the nicest one I've ever, ever met. Her service is immaculate. I repeat, immaculate. She responds super fast as well. It's really a joy liaising with her! Hop on over and bookmark DIY Galore now! ♥♥♥

Happened to pass by a little-tots bakery class of sorts!:

The little boy in the middle is adorable! HAHAHA, peeking at his friend's masterpiece:

Bought tickets to Rise Of The Planet of The Apes as well. Sweet popcorn!:

PhotobucketPhotobucket

The seats in the theatre are so comfy! I'd pick that over the cloth cushion seats any day. And can I just say that the movie was AWESOME. Way better than the previous one, where apes could talk. -___-"' Lame, I don't like. I know Caesar talked in this one as well, but barely (like 4 lines?!), so it's not so bad. I'm hopeless with movies like these where animal instincts show, because when he got shunned by humans and bullied by the caretaker, or when he couldn't go home, I was dripping tears in the cinema. -_- So embarrassing, and I had to hide it from the boyfriend because I know he'd chide me and say, "It's just a show!" I know it's just a show but it's still sad!!! :((( I don't like to see animals being mistreated/bullied!

Gonna end off with a random pic I took with the silly boyfriend, when he took shots for me for my Vanilla Lollies advertorial in the previous post. =):

Signing off nowwwwwww~ xoxo
