Action for AIDS is having a Women's Movie & Picnic (Loving the Paper Plates & the Silver Screen) on 30th October 2010, 5.30pm onwards at Fort Canning Park. The theme of the event will be a celebration of sisterhood – women looking after each other, supporting what makes us all different, supporting each other to do bigger and better things, and most importantly, giving each other the strength to look after ourselves and each other.

AfA wants more women to know that HIV/AIDS is a real issue that affects not only men, but also the women in Singapore. 'All the Ladies!' is a campaign to encourage all women to view regular HIV screening as a right to good health, as a responsibility and commitment to your partner. To kickstart their new Women & Girls Outreach Program that will empower women at risk, and support more affected women and their families, they are having a fundraiser and they need all support from women they can get.

There will be a movie screening of Julie & Julia. If you haven't watched that movie, then you should. =) I think Meryl Streep is awesome. Here's the trailer:



The event will be a great feel-good way for women to gather, spend some time together, have a picnic with girlfriends, and bond over a movie. The best thing? Doing so would help spread word, access, and assist more women in need.

To support 'All The Ladies!', mark your calendar (October 30th!) and gather a group of women together to attend this event. OR, you could become a lady ambassador and help with the sale of just 10 tickets. Ambassadors will be invited to be profiled in a photograph or a video as part of the campaign. Email alltheladies2010@afa.org.sg with your contact details to express your interest!

To express volunteer or support in other ways, please contact May at may.yong@afa.org.sg or ring up the Action for AIDS office at 6254 0212.

Ticket prices are as follows:

Single – for 1: $15
Plus 1 – for 2: $25
Girlfriends – for 4: $40

Tickets at the entrance are priced differently, and they are at $20, $30 and $50 respectively.
