My Love Affair with Les Affaires

I wore my Les Affaires sleepwear out of the house the other day, for a walk with Gucci. Samuel was with me, and he said my dress looked unique. Actually it is, because Les Affaires is not just for the indoors and the bedtime. It is so versatile that it can go from sleepwear to loungewear to casual dressing! Case in point:

Before you say anything, I know the background ain't exactly glamorous but HEY. I stay in the heartlands and that's Gucci's favourite path so cut him some slack! LOLOL. And anyway, the dress is what you should focus on, am I right or am I right? :P The Yoke Lace Dress I'm wearing is a hot-seller, so don't say I didn't tell you! :P See, you can even accessorize it with earrings and what-not! I did with mine - I paired the dress with diamante studs on my ears. =) Because I went for a walk with my dog, I wore flip-flops. But I can easily swap them for a pair of heels and a clutch and believe it or not, I'd be well on my way to a girls' night out. ;)

This is the same dress on their model:

PREEEETAYYYE!! :D Who knew cotton dresses could be so chic? ;)

Hello to whoever's still around

Haha, right. I haven't been updating for ages. Yes, I'm aware of that. I don't even know how to begin to update on what's been happening with me because everything is just all over the place! I know that it will seem like ages ago when I start blogging about pictures from last year but then again, it's only the beginning of January 2010, so it's not THAT long, is it! I'm still going to blog about them briefly. =)

So, I've been busy with a couple of events... Or maybe more than a couple. There's the Perrier Jouet champagne launch with Mable:

Was so freakin' late and panicked because I mixed up Marina Mandarin and Mandarin Oriental!! It was at the latter. And Sally, whom I got the job from, said makeup and hair would be provided, so I only went to work with base makeup and I didn't do my hair at all! Imagine my mad rush to fix my face up in the ladies' with whatever limited eye makeup I had, all the while perspiring like a mad dog and knowing I was already late! I could have looked better, but I had to settle for whatever I could. The Daniel Yam gowns were provided. I wish I could take them home; they're gorrrgeous!!

There was also the Sagami condom launch at Butter Factory on 9th December... Was working with Lyze, Sally, Belinda, June and Cordelia!:

With Herbert, who was the host of the event!:

With Jason and my colleagues:

Thanks for the job, Cheryl!:

Coincidentally, that same night was Chenelle's showcase. Much to my delight, because I love watching music performances like these. =P Got a photo with her and her minder after that!:

If you don't know who Chenelle is, she's the girl in the catchy song, I Fell In Love With The DJ. For some reason, I can't embed all the available videos on Youtube, so if you're interested, you gotta watch it at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nd8vrxOihas

For the whole month of November, I was running roadshows for Asiasoft's Warrior of the 3 Kingdoms (W3K). Basically I went all over the island's Cheers convenience stores, giving out free game clients to passers-by in my Xiao Qiao warrior outfit. It was tailor-made for me when they launched the game (which I will also put up pictures for, wait...), so I think it makes sense to use back the same girl with the same measurements to do the roadshows right? Anyway it was an easy job, except for the fact that the Cosplay costume gave me rashes in Singapore's humidity and it was a total bitch to strip off! I had to fight my way out of it all the time, literally. The costume was made of leather, it wasn't that heavy at all but it was just really thick and hot. I developed a rash on my hips and my neck, so I'm glad it's all over now! And I'm also glad the weird stares people gave me are over. It's quite embarrassing. I've been called so many things because parents don't know what I am, or rather, people who don't play W3K don't know. They called me "Power Ranger", "Ultraman", "Superhero". -_________-"' WTF! Tell me if this looks like Power Rangers or Ultraman?!?!!!:

Sometimes it got on my nerves when those aunties who just want freebies come up to me and ask for the game clients... And then I give them one (even though they're not the target audience), and then they come back for another. And another. I've been mobbed at Tampines and Ang Mo Kio, literally. The crowd stood around me with their hands outreached, waiting for me to give them a game client. It's almost like a scene out of Zombieland, except I hear, "Can I have one? Give me one." in English and Mandarin. I don't even have time to look up to match the hand to a face, I just randomly give them out and when I run out of them, some people get annoyed when they don't even know what it is! Usually I try to give more to the kids, because compared to old aunties and uncles, they stand a higher possibility of actually sitting in front of a computer playing games right?! I've even heard one auntie say to her friend when she came up to me to take one and her friend asked what it was and she said, "Don't know lah! Take already then say." Seriously, this is Singapore for you. If I were walking past a crowd like that, I wouldn't hang around... I don't know, it's just not me. I believe if you go to America or something, you wouldn't see this kind of freebies commotion. Almost reminds me of the McDonald's Hello Kitty saga.

Anyway, more pictures from the roadshow at Harbourfront Centre:

With the brand manager, Wilson's kids, Wei Feng and Yi Hai - they're so fun to play with, haha:

The launch at Suntec City:

With the messenger:

With the emperors:

I couldn't find the character wearing the exact robes online but to make a comparison, maybe this? =S:

I do have a picture of the warrior costume though!:

I know, she is SOOOO pretty!!! I don't do her justice at all. =(

Our swords!:

This is my headgear! Complete with fake hair because my real hair wasn't long enough:

With Candy from Asiasoft:

With Joyce, also from Asiasoft:

That headgear hurt a lot because the ponytail was heavy and it was pulling at my real hair. Great relief to take it off. I must have looked completely awkward because I didn't dare to move my head too much. When I first saw myself in the warrior outfit, I had a good laugh. But I like the robes though.

I also did another Asiasoft event for Christmas. It was held over 2 days at Suntec Tropics Atrium. On the first day I was dressed up as 3 characters, from Sudden Attack, W3K and RayCity respectively, and then on the second day I was just a Santarina for the whole day:

Okay, you don't have to see the W3K one 'cos it's exactly the same costume as the roadshows', just that I had to turn up early for rehearsals so I could stage up a fight with the dancers. That was totally lame... Urgh, I am so embarrassed thinking back about it. Okay, maybe one picture with Mable and Danny the illusionist:

My hair's a mess and I think I look kinda flustered because I just removed the headgear, which I had to wear for the stage fight. Anyway, Danny is an AWESOME illusionist!!!! He made my jaw drop, even though I know it's all just tricks but he is GOOD! And fast. Haha. I always like to watch his tricks, even if it's not the first time. He can bend a 20-cent coin, make a $10 note become a $50 note and let the $10 note end up in a kiwi fruit! LOL. That, among lots of other amazing tricks. He gave me a Bicycle poker card as a memento...:

I know, it looks just like any poker card... Basically he said that it's called the Bicycle cards because there are 2 angels riding on a bicycle but they never meet. So he said he'd make them meet, and he used something to catch the reflection of one angel, and then that angel ended up next to the other! See this!:

Hahaha! The circle below is empty now, isn't it!! LOL. I begged him to take me as a disciple but of course I was kiddin'. He wouldn't!! You should really check out his website at http://www.danny-koh.com/. Yes, even if you think you know his tricks! It still brings a smile to your face.

Was working with Hui Rong, Elynn, Mable, Sherry and Amanda for the 2 days. Kanny came on the 2nd day. With my colleagues:

With Amanda, one of the girls I'm closer to at work:

It was tiring to clock in 12 hours each day, but I'm glad I went through with it. Mooooolah, baby! Was my first time working with Mable, I think she is totally hot! That body is to die for. And she's really nice too. Speaking of Mable, she just came to my house the other day to see Gucci and Cookie. I made pasta for the both of us, and it was yummylicious! =D Right, Mable? Hahaha.

Backstage with Sherry and Mable - I told you I can never do the act-cute thing!:

My favourite part of the whole roadshow was throwing freebies from stage into the crowd. The further, the better! Especially the posters... You can fling those things far! LoL. Once again, it was a snatch-fest below the stage... Anything they could get their hands on, they did: posters, sunflower seed snacks, game clients, recyclable bags, calendar cards... etc. You'd wonder if they were having a food ration or something, with the amount of sunflower seed snacks they grabbed! One auntie was right below the stage, and she was so desperate for freebies that she grabbed my ankle to get my attention. I thought that was just plain freakin' rude. What if I fall?!

Anyway, check out the chaos from the freebie-snatching and lucky draw:

I suspect a lot of the pictures are blur because either the person's skills suck, or there was really a lot of jostling about below. When the whole event ended, there was NO sign of any freebies on the floor. No litter. Yes, those people are brutal! LOL. The only freebies I brought home were these:

Inner Shine Berry Essence! X)

That was the last event I did, actually... And then here and there a few shoots for blogshops and one for Getup Merch, a rock apparel brand:

Lady Gaga

P!nk

Slipknot

In exchange, I could choose a t-shirt for myself, so I chose the Number One King of Pop, the best act I know - Michael Jackson:

I really miss you, MJ!!!!

I've been slacking at home ever since the last Asiasoft Christmas event!!!! Damn. I didn't even go out on Christmas. Will update more soon................... That said, so much for the entry being "brief". LOL.
